AAH! The Sea

This was the sky the other morning on my walk on the beach. The picture does it no justice! There were rainbow colors shooting out that don't show up in the picture. I really look forward to my morning walks with just my thoughts and the sound of waves crashing and birds cawing! It makes everything melt away and is such a great way for me start my day.We went to Malibu this weekend. The sunset was so beautiful. It was great to just spend some time with the little kids while Shelby and Jaxon were at EFY. Someone always has to be the center of attention!

This is in Malibu too. That is not really the sun. It is just the light from it. Mylee played on the rocks and Paydon and Kris threw a football. I sat back in awe of the beauty around me. I love being with my family so much!

Pinewood Derby Time

Paydon had his first pinewood derby. Anyone who knows him knows how much he LOVES cars. This was right up his alley. Him Kris got together and made an awesome looking car. The car raced average, and Paydon loved every minute of the 3 1/2 hour event.

Paydon came home today with a book on his bed titled How to Make A Perfect Pinwood Derby Car, and a note from Kris saying "lets do this"! Looks like everyone better look out! We could have a winner next year!

Coming HOME

We have come back to Utah twice since we moved. I love Santa Barbara a lot, but being away from all our family and friends is really hard. I will find all kinds of excuses to come for a visit. I will also talk anyone into coming to visit us. Hey you have a free place to stay!!!!

Can't get over how much Shelby and Nic look like each other!

Halli was not happy that we were leaving her. We were sad to leave too! Everyone was so good to us, giving us warm beds to sleep in and yummy food to eat and fun entertainment.

The absolutely craziest clan EVER! These cousins get together and the house ends up looking like a tornado hit it and the noise level reaches decibels that impair your hearing! They have the best time together and that is all that matters! Chambers thank you for all the yummy food and the birthday cake for Shelby.

Three hooligans ready for a good nights sleep...... Yeah right!!!!! It was the craziest bed hoppin night of my life! Oh the memories!

What's up?

We finally made it to Disneyland! We got annual passes and are going to try to go at least once a month. The passes have block out dates and the Saturdays are always blocked out. So the kids will be missing a few days of school. Their teachers aren't going to like it! They will have enough schooling! Fun family experiences are what this life is about! Disneyland is about a 2 hour drive from our house.

We met up with Brian and Amber and their 3 so well behaved girls. We had so much fun spending time with cousins!

We have started a tradition of the first ride we will always go on is Pirates of the Caribbean.

The Karrens came and spent a couple nights at our house. They were so fun to have with us! I cried the day they left. I think they really liked it here so I am hoping for another visit from them soon!

My parents came out and saw us. We loved having grandma and grandpa hanging out for a couple of days! We took them to all the beautiful sights in Santa Barbara.

We"re ALIVE!!!

Well I think we have finally settled in our rather quaint home! I can't believe it has almost been 2 months since we took the plunge and moved to Santa Barbara California! It has been an adjustment with a 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, tincy kitchen, no backyard, and a laundary closet out in the garage. It has been so much change for the kids they have been at each others throats since we got here. I hope things cool down in a couple of months and they can get to their comfortable selves. Sometimes I wonder if aliens have taken over my childrens bodies! They are adjusting and getting a little more used to school and making some friends.

We have been learning to surf! Shelby is a fish and can spend hours trying every couple of minutes to catch a wave! Her first time she made it standing on the board she had her feet together and was waving both arms like she was a dairy queen on a float. I wasn't there but Kris came home and told me about it and I wished I could have seen it or we had a picture. I was laughing so hard picturing her! Paydon enjoys giving it a few tries when Shelby actually gives up the board and gives him a turn.

Mylee spends most of the time running back and forth in and out of the waves and playing in the sand.

They have free movies on the pier. They set up a big screen and projector and you bring your chairs and enjoy a movie surrounded by the awesome backdrop of the ocean and sunset. This night we watched Never Ending Story and we also went to Shrek.

You know you live in an awsome place when you see a cruise ship parked in the ocean just a few miles away from your house!

We are getting adjusted and can't wait for friends and family to come see us! We miss everyone back in Utah and would just love it if they would all pack up their stuff and move here with us! We have met amazing people here and feel this is an experience that will stregnthen our family and draw us closer to one another.

AND THEN THERE WERE 4

How time flies. So much has happened in the last 6 months. Kris had been looking for a new job for about 2 years and he finally got one in Feb. So the end of Feb him and Jaxon headed out to sunny Santa Barbara, California. They have been there for 2 months now and I miss them terribly! Well maybe the husband more than the teenager! All of you who live with one could totally agree with me! Me and the other 3 kids drove the 13 and a half hours to spend a week with them in their 300 square foot apartment over spring break. We had a blast in the warm sun just hanging out as a family. We spent everyday hanging out at the beach. We spent time with some friends that live there. I was a little worried, i mean it is California, but i felt really safe and comfortable there. I can see myself living there for a couple years, but then coming back to where my family is. We are giving this a trial run to see if Kris can sell enough windows and doors to move the rest of us up there. I was worried about the schools there so that is why Jaxon went with Kris, and also to keep him company. He goes to Santa Barbara High School since 9th grade is in high school there. I was nervous but he is doing good and liking school as much as a 15 year old boy can. (There is not a metal detector at the doors of the school, i asked the first day he went.) It has not been harder with everyday chores and stuff because there are two less people to cook and clean up after, but it is really hard being apart! I have been surprised at how lonely it gets. I still have tons of family and friends here but they r not Kris. The one person that I have spent the last 15 years married to. I started thinking about people whose spouses have died! I can't imagine how lonely they feel! I get to talk to Kris everyday and even see him through pictures and skype. The loneliness is still hard to deal with. Just not havin him here to give me a big hug and kiss when he gets home from work, or just knowing he is laying beside me in bed at night. It has made me realize how much i love and need him. The good thing is that this isn't permanent. We are working hard to get our family back together whether it be in Utah or California. Until then I will just keep pluggin along and try to keep our other 3 children alive and happy.

Don't forget the Eldest

You won't find Jaxon letting you take a picture of him anyday soon! In fact your lucky if you do see him! Jaxon is a freshmen this year and decided to try playing football for the first time. He broke his shoulder the first week of practice but is now healed up and got to play in his first game last Wed. It was an away game so I haven't seen him play yet. Can't wait for a home game so I can go see his moves! He is about as tall as me know. A whoppin five foot two to be exact! He has grown a lot in the last couple months and now looks like a young man! I hate that my baby is growning up and making me get older every day! His voice is low and deep now and it is so strange to see your baby turning into a man! I don't like it! Not one bit!

Back to Reality!!!

I can't believe that the kids have been in school already for over a month! I really need to get a new computer!!! Ours is about six years old and very very slow. I think it is infected with numerous viruses which makes it very slow and so not fun to update my life on! But I have myself a few hours while Kris is watching the USU - BYU game. We are back to reality and back to a schedual since school started! Lots of playing after school, homework, and still fighting kids to get in bed at a decent hour!

I was able to squeeze Mylee into a preschool at the last minute because someone dropped out and she is loving it! She goes on Tues, Wed, and Thurs. I take her to work with me for an hour and then clock out and take her to school at 1:00. I get off at 3:00 and go pick her up. It has worked perfectly with my work schedule and relieves my sister from having to watch her everyday! She loves it and thinks she is so big! She is learning to write her name. Her nickname lately is THE QUEEN! And if you know Mylee at all you know it fits her very well.
Next year is kindergarten!

This is Paydon and Shelby the first day of school. They go to the same school this year and hopefully will look out for each other. Paydon is in 2nd grade and Shelby is in 5th. Maturation program here we come!!!!

What is it about a plate of skanky nachos from 7-11? Gotta have me some every now and then!

And for a little laugh. Why do they have to make girls panties so hard to figure out which two holes your legs go into! You almost need to be Einstein to figure it out! This girl doesn't really care. Get them on and get on with breakfast!!!

Bashaw Headlines

Between my computer being down with a nasty virus and me stalking everyone else's blogs it has been a while since I have posted. There have been a few things to catch up on so this is what has happened in the Bashaw household these last couple of months.



The Bashaw boys burfday extravaganza!

On April 10, 2010 Jaxon Charles Bashaw and Paydon Ross Bashaw celebrated their 14th and 7th birthdays! The day was rather uneventful because Mylee ended up throwing up mid day scaring everyone away from our house. We had a small party with grandma Carol and grandpa Bob. Man I love these boys!

Mylee Elizabeth Bashaw turns 4!

The baby of the household turned 4 on May 31st. She was so excited to be the same age as Halli again! I can't believe my baby is getting so grown up! I get very few glimpses of her as a baby anymore. She has grown up so fast with 3 older siblings to show her the way!

IN A WEIRD SPOT

I feel like I have come to a point in my life where I don't really fit in. Kind of like when you are a Junior in high school. When you are a sophmore you are just glad to be in high school and about to earn some freedom by getting a drivers liscence. When you are a Senior you can see the light at the end of the tunnel. You are just a moment away from moving on to bigger and better things in life. When you are a Junior your excitement for high school is gone and you feel like it the end is nowhere in sight. I feel like a Junior again! I am no longer the young mom with little kids running around. Don't get me wrong, I love the freedom I have earned with my kids growing older and more independent! I have loved getting a full nights sleep for a while now! But I love babies so much and can't see myself without them. It is a little hard to think that I will never carry and give birth to a baby again. It is been really hard for me to face that reality. My kids are getting to the age where they truely believe they know it all and are smarter that me. I don't blame them, it feels like just yesterday I was thinking the same thing about my own parents. They don't really need me, they just want me to give in to their every demand.
I am having a hard time with what to wear lately too. Even though I still feel like I am 17, I can no longer pull off dressing like one. But man, the old lady clothes aren't too appealing either! Where do I stand? I don't know! All I know is that the days are flying by!

This Too Shall Pass (but maybe not anytime soon)

So me and Kris were getting a kick of how many jobs we have between the two of us right now. The total is 5! We decide to build a bigger nicer house right when Kris's job decides to do not so good. So to make up the money we haven't made for the last two years it is taking 4 more jobs to cover it. So now I am back to work working at Cantwells from 12 to 3 Mon thru Fri. Saturdays I work 8 to 2. I also donate plasma twice a week. Kris still works his regular at Cantwells and has added a 5 am newspaper route 2 mornings a week with Jaxon, and teaching computer applications at Steven Hennegar on Mon and Wed nights from 6 to 10. Needless to say we are both busier than ever! We get to see each other a little bit working together. Otherwise we kiss each other and head off to another job. Hopefully things will get better and we won't have to work ourselves to death to make it. Ya gotta do what ya gotta do! That is our motto this year.

Double Digits! A Decade!!!

I can't believe my baby girl is 10 today. At least I think she is mine. I did give birth to her, but she sure looks a lot like my little sister. I just found this picture of my sister Rhonda, and Shelby. I love it!!









Ten years ago I gave birth to this girl after 3 hours of labor and 2 pushes. The last ten years with her has been just as easy and pleasant. She is 5 in this picture.




She had a sleepover with two of her friends last weekend because her and her friend have the same birthday. So we have to coordinate parties.
You have got to love a ten year old girl!













Shelby does not enjoy a good chocolate cake like her mother. She decided on doughnuts and ice cream instead. So this was her version of a birthday cake this year.








The top 10 reason why you can't help but love Shelby Ella Bashaw!!!

#10- She is the best babysitter for her little brother and sister. (she doesn't charge a lot either)

#9- She can burp and fart with the best of them.

#8- She loves her friends, and always needs to be with one of them.

#7- She is always thinking of others in need. The other day she wouldn't stop asking me if we could adopt some kids from Haiti.

#6- She helps me out around the house without complaining too much.

#5- She gives me at least 5 kisses before she goes to bed at night.

#4- That girl can eat. She has a lot of junk in the trunk just like her mom, always has.

#3- She has the most gorgeous eyes you have ever seen!!

#2- She is a very good student! Except at parent teacher conference her teacher did mention that she has a problem with writing notes on her white board and holding it up to pass to a boy in class.

OH HELP ME SANTA!!!

Dear Santa,
My daughter Mylee is in desperate need of toys this Christmas. (You can see some carpet.) I know she is on the naughty list this year, but please excuse her behavior. Between all the hand me down toys from three older siblings, three birthdays and christmas's, she is lacking in toys. If you could please unload your sleigh in her bedroom I'm sure I will enjoy picking up those toys also. I have nothing better to do!!! Thank you!!!!!

3 Highlights of the Day

3. While cooking dinner I turned around to Mylee's bare fanny up in the air asking me to wipe her. Appetizing!

2. Went to dinner with some friends. Steak, mashed potatoes, salad, the best darn rolls ever, and top it off with a brownie sunday. YUM YUM. Laughed most the calories off too.

1. After I put Mylee to bed I hear her yelling mom, mom. I went into her room and she says, "can I have another kiss and a hug." Moments like that make it all worth it.

LITTLE FULL, LOT OF SAP!

WOW THIS PICTURE ENDED UP VERY CLEAR. THIS YEAR KRIS WANTED A REAL TREE. DID I MENTION A VERY TALL REAL TREE. AT A TREE LOT YOU CAN SPEND A PRETTY PENNY ON EVEN A LITTLE ONE, SO I TOLD HIM IF HE WENT AND CUT ONE DOWN HE COULD HAVE A TALL, REAL TREE THIS YEAR. SO PAYDON AND HIM WENT SEARCHING FOR THE MOST BEAUTIFUL TREE THEY COULD FIND ON SATURDAY. THEY CAME HOME WITH THIS 12 FOOT PLUS CHRISTMAS TREE.


IT TOOK NINE HUNDRED LIGHTS AND ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF TO STRING THEM ALL ON. BUT IT ENDED UP BEAUTIFUL. IT DOES LOOK A LITTLE OUT OF PLACE, WHO CAME UP WITH PUTTING TREES IN YOUR HOUSE ANYWAY. JUST PRAY THAT IT DOESN'T START ON FIRE AND WE WILL HAVE THE MOST HAP HAP HAPPIEST CHRISTMAS YET. KRIS USED EXTRA PRECAUTIONS AND TIED IT TO THE RAILING SO IT WON'T END UP TIPPING OVER, LIKE OUR LAST REAL CHRISTMAS TREE DID.

I HAD JAXON TERRIFIED UP ON THE ROOF THIS YEAR PUTTING UP THE OUTSIDE LIGHTS. BUT YOU HAVE TO GO ALL OUT OUTSIDE TOO. I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR EVEN THOUGH IT IS SO MUCH WORK.

Maybe She'll Be An Electrician

I think Mylee might want to be an electrician. This is the second time in a couple of months that she has had sparks flying out of an outlet. The first time I was vacumning and out of the corner of my eye I say sparks and smoke. She had stuck a bobby pin into the outlet where I had plugged in the vacumn. Then the other night Shelby came running out into the garage yelling something about Mylee. I ran inside and she came up the stairs crying, holding out her hand. Her fingers were black. In a panic I hurry and ran them under cold water asking what happened. She was playing with this olympic pin when she either tried to it into the outlet, or it dropped and she went to get it. There were two things already plugged into the outlet. A nightlight and a carbon monoxide detector. The pin was resting right on top of the prongs of the nightlight. This sent smoke and sparks shooting out. There were little outlines of her fingers outlined in black off to the side.



I cleaned it up as best I could then decided I would blog about it. This is what I couldn't get off. Luckily we live in a house that will trip a breaker and shut of the power supply if something like this happens. Her fingers were black but not burnt. I think she got a bit of a shock though.

Never leave a three year old alone for very long. A couple of months ago I got in the tub. I came out and found Mylee with a pair of scissors entertaining herself. Well it kept her quiet for about a half hour.

She got mad that I was taking her picture.

If you don't have anyone to play with make your own company. The other night she told me in a very loud voice that she wasn't tired and wanted to watch Dora instead of going to bed. So I turned on Dora and went into my room. After a few back and forths to her bedroom I came out and found her sitting around the foot rest with a few babies watching Dora at 10:30 at night. You have got to love a three year old!!

with it this time. Halloween was alright this year. It was a little disappointing because I remembered how warm it was last year. This year not so much. You had to keep moving to stay warm. My parents were gone to Hawii but they left the grandkids a bag of treats at their house so we all met up there and took the annual Halloween picture.







A look into the very near future. Those are my saggy boobs not my fat stomach. Don't you love the kankles.

Rhonda and Rory surprised us by announcing they were expecting. She had a shirt with a bun in the oven. Rory was the baker. I almost died laughing when I saw them.

Happy Birthday Shelberella

I can't believe how fast my days and weeks have been going by. One minute it is Monday the next it is another Monday. This week was Shelberellas 9th birthday. I can't believe it. She is such a joy to be around. She is so motherly and always a big help with Mylee. She is so mellow and such a good girl. I love her so much. She is becoming quite a beautiful young lady. She is such a social butterfly and always needs a friend to play with. I was thinking the other day about a couple of funny stories that had to do with her name. Her name it Shelby Ella, she is named after my grandma Carma's mom, Ella. When my dad told my grandma her name, she thought she said she'll be Ella. It made us laugh when we found out months later she didn't know her name wasn't Ella, but Shelby Ella. Another time when she was about six months old I was taking Jaxon and another little boy to preschool. My kids grow really fast in the first 6 months of their lives and Shelby was rather plump. When I got to preschool, the little boy sat there for a moment before getting out. In a rather concerned way he asked me"why did you name your baby Chubby?" He thought we were calling her Chubby not Shelby. It was a very appropriate question though. I love her so much and I am very greatful to be her mom. She makes the job very easy.
